If it is working you will see a message saying 'You have joined room: virtualataxia_chat. Welcome to our chat!'

My chat won't work!

Virtualataxia chat is run with the Java Runtime Enviroment. Either do a Google search or download it from here. Once the file has downloaded (it is quite big but shouldn't take too long!) run it and follow the instructions on screen to install java. You may need to quit and restart your browser after this, but then the next time you visit Virtualataxia simply type your name underneath where it says 'Enter a username' and click the 'Connect' button.

Internet chat is not my thing.

Virtualataxia offers another way to get in touch with ataxians all over the UK (if not the world!) We also run a email list through Yahoo Groups. This works by enabling you to email our address at Yahoo and this email will be delivered to the other 100 or so Virtualataxia members (these members will also be able to reply in the same way) a great way to share ideas for independent living, new breakthroughs (we hope!!) in research and much more. Find out more at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/virtualataxia/. This does require registering with Yahoo but this is quick and painless!
